DEARBORN — Another round of Stand Up For Religious Freedom rallies will be held at noon across the country on Oct. 20, say representatives of the Pro-Life Action League and Citizens for a Pro-Life Society.
And this time, Archbishop Allen Vigneron will address a local crowd that will gather at the Dearborn City Hall, 13615 Michigan Ave., Dearborn.
The national rallies are the third since the federal government’s mandate that most employers, including religious ones, pay for contraception, sterilizations and abortion-inducing drugs in their health care plans, regardless of moral objections.
In addition to Archbishop Vigneron, other speakers will include WMUZ Radio personality Bob Dutko, Sacred Heart Major Seminary professor Robert Fastiggi, University of Michigan-Dearborn professor Michael New and Detroit Pregnancy Center director Judy Simmons.
Following the rally, a procession will be led to St. Barbara Parish, Dearborn, for a short prayer.
Other rallies in the Metro Detroit area will be held at SS. Cyril & Methodius (Slovak) Parish, 41233 Ryan Road, Sterling Heights; St. Aiden Parish, 17500 Farmington Road, Livonia; and at Dixie Highway and White Lake Road in Clarkston. The Clarkston rally will take place from 2-3:30 p.m., while the others will take place at noon.
