Detroit — Archbishop Allen Vigneron and the active auxiliary bishops of the Archdiocese of Detroit will be making a pilgrimage to Rome, and their preparations and progress can be followed online.
Those who access the blog can also make their contribution to the spiritual bouquet the archbishop will present to Pope Benedict XVI when he sees him.
The bishops are traveling to Rome Feb. 1-6 to make their ad limina report to the Holy Father about the archdiocese, a duty all diocesan bishops must fulfill every five years.
The spiritual bouquet consists of good deeds done and prayers and liturgies offered to the intentions of the Holy Father. Already several contributions have been posted, and can be read via the archbishop’s blog on the archdiocesan website. Just go to the Web page, and click on the words Spiritual Bouquet on the right-hand side of the blog’s opening page.
The offerings to the Spiritual Bouquet can be private or corporate, that is, they can come from individuals or parishes, schools, etc. For example, one reader posted that she would be starting Jan. 8. Another announced a novena, as well as prayers during a weekly Holy Hour.
Members of St. Jane de Chantal Parish in Sterling Heights posted that they would be offering their weekly Masses from Jan. 14 through Feb. 5 for the pope’s intentions.
