Nearly 800 students from Catholic schools in the Blue Water Vicariate attend Mass at Holy Cross Church in Marine City on Feb. 1. The carnival was hosted by Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School in Marine City and included students from St. Edward on the Lake School in Lakeport, St. Mary/McCormick Academy in Port Huron, St. Mary School in St. Clair, St. Augustine School in Richmond, Immaculate Conception School in Ira Township and Holy Cross School in Marine City.
Students line up for the bounce house at Cardinal Mooney High School during the school's first Catholic Schools Week Carnival on Feb. 1.The theme of the carnival, "It's Great to be Catholic," reflected the purpose of Catholic Schools Week, which is to highlight the values of faith, service and education provided by Catholic schools around the country.
The carnival began with Mass at Holy Cross Church in Marine City with nearly 800 students, staff and volunteers and included games, bounce houses, arts and crafts, prizes and faith-building exercises.
Cardinal Mooney is a co-ed Catholic high school founded in 1977.
