The annual Mass for Commerce will be celebrated at 8 a.m. by Archbishop Allen Vigneron in the seminary chapel, followed by breakfast in the gymnasium.
The event draws people from the world of commerce as usually understood, as well as professionals and those associated with various levels of government, explains John Sier, an attorney and member of the steering committee that works on arranging and promoting it.
The annual liturgy typically has filled the seminary chapel with hundreds of attendees.
“It’s an opportunity for people engaged in commerce , in the broadest sense, to come together and remember that everything we do – whether in church or commerce — has to be informed by the principles of our faith and the love of Jesus Christ,” Sier says.
The breakfast following the Mass provides an opportunity for networking, he adds.
There is no charge for the event, but a freewill offering will be taken.
Sacred Heart Major Seminary is at 2701 Chicago Blvd. in Detroit.
