Allen Park— A handful of students from St. Francis Cabrini High School won’t soon forget this fall’s homecoming celebration.
That was when they were given accolades — and a $9,000 check — from Ford Motor Co. for producing a video highlighting the technology of the Ford Focus.
The initiative was part of a school contest called “Ford Focus on Schools.”
Of 170 videos submitted from 10 different states, the Cabrini students placed second.
Ford sent representatives to the school leadership and students as part of the homecoming celebration Sept. 30.
“We are proud that our students are not only talented, but also that they have shown the willingness and desire to help continue to build our school community for future students,” said Fr. Joe Mallia, pastor of St. Frances Cabrini Parish.
The contest was sponsored locally by Taylor Ford; it was designed to support local schools while also promoting the new features and technology included in the 2012 Ford Focus. The company pledged to award $55,000 to the top ten Great Lakes region schools.
