DETROIT — The Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament will host a Mass in honor and appreciation of Detroit’s police officers and law enforcement officials June 11.
The “Blue Mass” is the first to be celebrated at the archdiocese’s mother church in several years, although a similar celebration was held in 2015 at St. Christopher Church on the city’s west side. The Mass honors all those who currently serve in law enforcement, as well as fallen and retired officers.
The Mass, which begins at 11 a.m., will be celebrated by Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron and will include a special prayer for God’s protection of the men and women who serve and protect the community. All are invited to attend.
The cathedral is at 9844 Woodward Ave., Detroit. For more information, visit aod.org.
