Mt. Brighton -- Shamrock skiers scored another important league win at Tuesday evening’s MBISA slalom race at Mt. Brighton.

Ian Pierce and Jim Herzog finished 3rd and 4th respectively along to collect valuable points toward the team’s victory. CC is battling Okemos for the league’s leading spot and another shot at a regional championship and trip to the state meet.

Coach Tom Gable stated that Tuesday’s first place finish by the Shamrock’s was a great example of how what is often viewed as an individual sport can only be successful with a full team effort.

All of CC’s five varsity racers finished both runs of the slalom which is ultimately scored on how well the overall team competes. Gable once again singled out Damon Rottermond who held a commanding lead after his first run on the slalom course but missed a gate in his second run and  was forced to climb back up the hill in order to avoid disqualification. Even with that interruption, Rottermond was able to finish in 10th and gain valuable points to help the team’s effort.

MBISA will hold its giant slalom event on Thursday when the Shamrocks will be poised to gain more ground on their march to another high school ski league championship.
