Deacon Frank William LoafmanDeacon Frank William Loafman entered eternal life Oct. 28 at the age of 92.
Deacon Loafman was born May 17, 1925, and ordained a permanent deacon for the Archdiocese of Detroit on June 18, 1971. He enlisted in 1943 into the U.S. Army Air Corp, where he trained as a pilot and command gunner.
Following his honorable discharge from the military, on Oct. 23, 1948, he married Loyola (Mihalek) Loafman. Shortly thereafter, he completed his bachelor’s degree at Wayne State University. He was ordained in 1971 as a deacon, serving many years in the Knights of Columbus.
Upon retiring from the Detroit Edison Co., he devoted himself to the parish communities he served.
He is survived by his wife, Loyola, of 69 years, daughter Kathleen (Robert) Cischke, and four sons William (Jasmine) Loafman, John (Jackie) Loafman, Thomas (Karen) Loafman, and Robert Loafman; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 2 at St. Joseph Parish in Stuart, Fla. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, Tequesta, Fla.
