Fernando J. Reyes, beloved husband of Mary C. (nee Galea); loving father of Mari (Donald Martus) Reyes, Angela Reyes, Esther (Joseph) Szafranski, Robert J. (Deanna), Michael (Kimberly), Carl, Stephen (Mary K.), Joseph (Susan), Christine Reyes and Dolores (Damian) Aquino, died Nov. 1 at the age of 82. He was the dear grandfather of 28, great grandfather of 15 and great great grandfather of one. Dearest brother of Esther Marie Reyes, Maria Aurora Reyes, Teresita (Richard) Galea, Roberto (Rosa) Reyes Medina and 10 half-brothers and -sisters in Mexico.

Fernando proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a corporal and assistant chaplain. He also worked with the Archdiocese of Detroit, serving as a music minister from 1948 to 2011. Fernando was a member of the City Light Opera, Detroit Opera Society and the Michigan Opera Company.

Visitation Sunday 2-9 p.m. with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. 36900 Schoenherr Road at Metro Parkway (16 Mile Road). Funeral Monday; in state 11:30 a.m. at St. Blase Catholic Church, 12151 15 Mile Road (between Schoenherr and Van Dyke) until the time of Mass at noon.
