Football from sun-up to sundown at Ford Field

Detroit – It’ll be football from sun-up to sundown at the CHSL Prep Bowl Saturday at Ford Field  in downtown Detroit.

The main attraction will be the three high school games concluding the pigskin festivities. At 1 p.m., Ann Arbor Fr. Gabriel Richard (8-1) and Pontiac Notre Dame (9-0) will meet for the Prep Bowl championship.

At 4 p.m., a pair of 8-0 teams will compete for the C-D championship: Detroit Loyola and Royal Oak Shrine.

And winding up the activity at 7 p.m. Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (4-0 CHSL Central, 7-1) and Novi Detroit Catholic Central (3-1 CHSL Central, 7-1) will collide for the A-B championship.

A series of four CYO exhibitions will kick off the day: at 8 a.m., St. Clair Shores St. Joan of Arc vs. Garden City St. Raphael; at 8:25 a.m., Livonia St. Edith vs. St. Clair Shores St. Isaac Jogues; and at 8:50 a..m., Rochester Hills Holy Family vs. Ann Arbor Saints.

At 9:15 a.m., the losers of games played earlier in the week between Warren St. Anne vs. Plymouth Good Counsel and Bloomfield Hills St. Regis vs. Walled Lake St. William.

The winners of those games will meet at 10 a.m. for the CYO championship.

All kinds of trophy presentations and awards will be made at halftime and after the games for both the CYO and CHSL schools.

Tickets are $6 in advance from high school athletic departments and the Knights of Columbus, or $8 at the door.
