DETROIT — The Sisters, Home Visitors of Mary will honor Sr. Mary Finn, HVM, at their eighth annual gala, Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Shriners’ Silver Garden in Southfield.
Auxiliary Bishop Donald Hanchon is one of the honorary chairs for the event, which will raise funds to support the Home Visitors of Mary’s work in Nigeria.
Sr. Finn, a Home Visitor for 60 years, has been on the Sacred Heart Major Seminary faculty since the late 1960s, teaching and advising more than four decades of new priests.
The HVMs have experienced a surge in vocations in recent years, but from Nigeria, not the United States, so that now the majority of members of the Detroit-based congregation are in the west African nation.
Tickets for the event are $60 each/$480 for a table of eight, and are available from the Sisters, Home Visitors of Mary, (313) 869-2160.
