Honoring our saint

Faithful will gather in churches named for St. Anne

Detroit — Later this month, the Archdiocese of Detroit will mark the first St. Anne feast day since the Vatican officially recognized St. Anne as the patron saint for the local Church.

On or around the feast — July 26 — Archbishop Allen Vigneron and his auxiliary bishops will celebrate Masses at the four churches named for the patroness.

The Mass at Ste. Anne de Detroit – the city’s oldest parish – will be at 7 p.m. on July 26. Archbishop Vigneron will preside. The Mass takes place during the parish’s annual novena. Masses at the historic parish will be celebrated in numerous languages throughout the week.
