Loyola featured on ‘NFL Films Presents’

Loyola featured on the national program

Detroit — The National Football League scoured the country looking for stories about high school football programs to feature on its national television network — and this fall it landed on a Detroit school that was short on funds and facilities, but big on heart and hard-work.

The school, of course, is the all-male Loyola high school of Detroit.

The Jesuit high school was filmed for four days this semester, from its athletic program to its academic one, and will be featured next week on the show “NFL Films Presents.”

The Bulldogs had their most successful season in the Catholic League this year, ripping through opponents and winning their first league championship (C-D Division) in impressive fashion.

The NFL Films Presents feature will focus not just on the gridiron, but also on what makes the 165-student school tick.

Here’s a schedule of when the program will air. Check your local listings for the stations:

  • 1:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 28 on ESPN 2

  • 4 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 30 on ESPN 2

  • 12 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 1 on NFL Network

  • 10:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 1 on NFL Network

  • 2:30 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 2 on NFL Network
