Detroit — Christine Kovacheff, who has served as marketing and advertising manager for The Michigan Catholic since 2007, retired from the newspaper Dec. 18.

Kovacheff, 82, had worked in media marketing for several years before coming aboard the archdiocesan newspaper. During her tenure, she was responsible for several marketing and advertising initiatives designed to increase the paper’s visibility and promote readership. One initiative of which she was particularly proud was a program to distribute free newspapers to incarcerated individuals in local prisons who might not otherwise be kept informed of the local Church’s life and events.

Kovacheff says she plans to spend her retirement traveling and spending time with family, especially to visit her son and granddaughter in Tennessee, as well as her nine other grandchildren and other family members around the country.
