STERLING HEIGHTS — The New Pentecost Project, a youth rally filled with music, worship and inspirational talks, will return for its second iteration April 13 at St. Blase Parish in Sterling Heights.
The two-and-a-half-hour rally borrows its theme from that of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles and disciples of Christ and gave them a new power to preach and boldly proclaim the Gospel message. The New Pentecost Project is especially geared toward young people in the archdiocese, and the aim is to use the event to enliven youth participation.
“Through the experience we seek to catalyze a new Pentecost — drawing individuals closer to Christ, the Spirit and therefore his Church,” says a promotional page for the event, www.aod.org/npp. A promotional video feature clips from October’s rally is available at the site, and a Facebook page has also been set up.
Last year’s event drew nearly 300 young adults and teens to St. Aidan Parish in Livonia, who were led in song and adoration by a host of speakers. Confession also was available.
The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the church, and a $5 donation is suggested.
