Raymond and Sylvia Novelly, parents of Fr. Duane Novelly, passed on from this life suddenly on Friday, August 6, in a traffic accident in Chesterfield Township. They were both 84 years old and had been married for 63 years. In addition to Fr. Novelly, they are survived by daughters Maureen Ortwein and Anita Bucrek, and son Cliff Novelly.

Funeral arrangements have been finalized through the Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons Funeral Home, located at 36900 Schoenherr Rd. (at Metro Parkway/16 Mile Road), Sterling Heights, (586) 826-8550. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 11, from 3 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, August 12, from 2 to 9 p.m. A scripture service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m.

On Friday, August 13, they will lie in state at St. Matthew Church, Detroit, from 10 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
