Resources for spiritual growth during Lent

Detroit — Catholics have several options for spiritual renewal during the season of Lent, which began Ash Wednesday, March 5. The Catholic Television Network of Detroit is offering several Lenten-themed programs designed to help viewers develop a closer walk with Christ:

• Msgr. John Zenz, pastor of Holy Name Parish in Birmingham, provides a teaching and reflection on the Sunday Gospel readings as actors interpret the narrative in “Beyond All Imagining.” Part 1 of the series will be broadcast March 10, 11 and 13, while Part 2 will be broadcast March 17, 18 and 20. • Fr. John Bartunek, LC, leads a Lenten reflection in “The Colors of the Cross,” which will air March 10, 13 and 15. Click here for times and channels.

• A Lenten series of musical selections and spoken word are offered by a Gregorian Chant Choir in “The Seven Last Words,” which will broadcast on at 1 a.m. Mondays and 9:30 p.m. Thursdays during Lent.

• Stations of the Cross will be broadcast on Fridays during Lent at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

In addition to CTND programming, Fr. Robert Barron, rector and president of Chicago’s Mundelein Seminary and founder of the international ministry Word on Fire, is offering a free daily email Lenten reflection series along with videos and giveaways.
