Detroit Auxiliary Bishop Arturo Cepeda and Martha Fernandez, of the Archdiocese of San Antonio’s Department of Evangelization, will be the featured speakers at the Archdiocese of Detroit’s third annual Hispanic Women’s Conference.
Bishop Cepeda will speak on “Women of the Bible Reflect on Today’s World,” and also celebrate Mass for the participants.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their daughters, aged 13 and up, who will attend a workshop for teen-agers conducted by Jovita Sanchez, who works with the teen groups at St. Gabriel and St. Stephen/Mary, Mother of the Church parishes in southwest Detroit.

The conference, with all sessions conducted in Spanish, will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, 2701 Chicago Blvd. at Linwood in Detroit.

“One of the important aspects of the conference is to grow in our faith, but another is to gather with other Hispanic women, not just from southwest Detroit, but from all around the archdiocese,” said Ana Cipres, who along with Patricia Maldonado is a co-facilitator for the conference.

Cipres said the conference also draws some participants from other parts of Michigan and from Ohio and Indiana.
The deadline for on-line registration is Sept. 26, but walk-ins are also accepted the day of the event.
