Sr. Agnes Louise Stechschulte, OP, formerly known as Mary Therese Stechschulte, died Dec. 26 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 90 and in the 72nd year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
Sr. Stechschulte was born in Owosso to Louis and Agnes (Ford) Stechschulte. She graduated from St. Paul High School in Owosso and earned degrees from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian; University of Detroit (Detroit Mercy); Miami Dade College in Miami, and Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
Sr. Stechschulte spent 56 years ministering in education in Michigan; Illinois and Florida. In Michigan, she taught at St. Dominic School, Detroit (1943-46); St. Agatha School, Gagetown (1946-48) and St. Ambrose High School, Detroit (1948-53). Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan, in 2003.
Sr. Stechschulte is survived by a brother, Joseph Stechschulte of Springfield, Mo. She was preceded in death by a cousin, Sr. Margaret Andre Stechschulte, also an Adrian Dominican Sister.
Mass of Christian Burial was Dec. 30 in St. Catherine Chapel. Burial is in the Congregation cemetery.
