Sr. Celine Marie Regan, OP

Sr. Celine Marie Regan, formerly known as Dolores Regan, died July 22 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 80 and in her 59th year of religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

She was born in Chicago to Daniel and Sarah (Hussey) Regan. Sr. Regan graduated from Mercy High School in Chicago and received a Bachelor of Philosophy degree in history from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, and a Master of Arts degree in American History from DePaul University in Chicago.

She spent 22 years ministering in education and serving in pastoral minister and parish administrator roles in Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Montana, Colorado and California. In the Archdiocese of Detroit, she taught at Our Lady Gate of Heaven in Detroit from 1952 until 1953 and served on the formation staff at the Dominican Formation House in Sterling Heights from 1970 until 1973. Sr. Regan served as chapter prioress of the Motherhouse Chapter in Adrian for 2 years, and a member of the congregation formation team for 3 years. She volunteered for the New Orleans Project in 2007. She became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2009.

Sr. Regan is survived by a sister, Sally Kopps of Franklin, Wisc.

Her funeral was July 26 in the St. Catherine Chapel of the Dominican Life Center.
