Sr. Elizabeth Kubacki, OP, formerly known as Sister Dominic Mary Kubacki, died Sept. 20 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 76 and in her 57th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
Sr. Kubacki was born in Detroit to Edward and Anna (Peruski) Kubacki. She graduated from Dominican High School in Detroit; received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian; a Master of Arts degree in history from Loyola University in Chicago; and a Master of Arts degree in Art Therapy from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
She spent 31 years in education, art therapist and activities coordinator in Illinois, Ohio and Michigan. In the Archdiocese of Detroit, she taught at St. Margaret in St. Clair Shores from 1970 until 1974; at St. Jude in Detroit in 1974-75; and at Our Lady of Victory in Northville from 1976 until 1986. In addition, she was director of annual giving in the Adrian Dominican Development Office in Detroit from 2003 until 2006.
Sr. Kubacki became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2010.
She is survived by sisters Ann Ciaverilla and Mary Jane Feldpausch.
Her funeral Mass was Sept. 22 at the Dominican Life Center.
