Sr. Geraldine Arnold, CSJ, entered eternal life June 7 at the age of 85.

Geraldine Arnold was born in Bay City on Dec. 21, 1931, the daughter of Lawrence and Louise (Conkle) Arnold. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Nazareth on July 1, 1949, and later received the name Sr. Laurice. She pronounced first vows Jan. 3, 1952, and final vows Jan. 3, 1955.

Sr. Arnold earned degrees from Nazareth College and St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn. In 1998, she was certified as a procurator-advocate for the Archdiocese of Detroit’s marriage tribunal, and she later taught at St. Rita, Detroit; St. Gertrude, St. Clair Shores; St. Agnes, Flint; St. Jerome, Battle Creek; and Barbour Hall, Nazareth. She later transitioned into religious education, adult faith formation and pastoral ministry at St. Anne Parish, Warren; St. Hubert, Mt. Clemens; St. Philomena, Detroit; and St. Veronica, Eastpointe.

During many of these years, she team-ministered with Sr. Mary Ann Ankoviak, CSJ, and for 20 years they directed religious education programs at Selfridge Air National Guard Base on weekends and evenings.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 14 at Holy Family Chapel in Nazareth.
