Sr. Helen Faiver, OP

Sr. Helen Faiver, OP, formerly Sr. Mary Perpetua Faiver, died Feb. 27 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 72 and in the 54th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sr. Faiver was born in Lansing to Leo and Margaret (Kremer) Faiver. She received a bachelor’s in biology from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian.

Sr. Faiver spent 10 years in elementary education at Guardian Angels, Clawson (1962-63); St. Charles, Greenville (1963-66); and St. Theresa, Detroit (1967-72). Her pastoral ministry of 21 years was in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic; and she also served in the congregation offices of central services (1972-77) and as building and staff supervisor at Weber Center (1979-81), both in Adrian. She was provincial secretary at Immaculate Conception Province in Detroit from 1977-79.

Sr. Faiver is survived by a sister, Frances Foltz of Lansing, and a brother, Edward Faiver of Mooresville, N.C.

A funeral Mass was March 3 in St. Catherine Chapel. Rite of Committal will be in the Congregation cemetery.
