Sr. BoudreauSr. Jeanette Boudreau, IHM, 79, died June 29 at the IHM Health Care Center in Monroe.
Beverly Ann was born in Flint on Jan. 2, 1938, to Stephen and Mary Jane (DeBurger) Boudreau. She entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Monroe in 1961 and received the religious name Sr. Marie Jeanette.
After earning a degree from Marygrove College, she taught at St. Martin and St. Charles, Detroit, and in Illinois. During that time, she became interested in serving children of difficult circumstances and ministered at the Detroit House of Corrections. She returned to studies and earned degrees in criminology and criminal justice from the University of Detroit. Her ministry of the next 10-plus years as correctional matron, prison-ministry at local/state and federal levels, family liaison and counseling, St. Vincent Hall for Unwed Mothers, supervisor, case manager and assistant warden at several correctional institutions moved her to ministries in Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma and Texas.
After returning to Detroit in 1987, Sr. Boudreau returned to teaching and campus ministry at Marygrove Colleg, and later was a volunteer tutor for the Mercy Education Project in Detroit.
Remembering and Mass of Christian Burial took place July 6. Cremation followed, and burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
