Sr. Joanne Witucki, IHM, 77, died Oct. 18 in the IHM Health Care Center, Monroe.

Joanne Witucki was born on March 6, 1940, in Detroit to Roman and Elizabeth (Armstrong) Witucki. She entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (Monroe) in 1958 and received the religious name Sr. John Mark. She earned degrees from Marygrove College and the University of Detroit.

Over her ministry in education, Sr. Witucki taught at Gesu School, Detroit, and served in religious education and administration at Epiphany and Mother of Our Savior, Detroit, and St. Priscilla, Livonia. In 1980, Sr. Witucki entered congregational leadership as provincial of the Northeast Province until 1988. She then moved to Oklahoma City, where she served in pastoral ministry and religious education for 14 years. In 2003, she accepted a position as pastoral associate at St. Joseph in Bay City, where she served until 2011.

Remembering and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 24 at the IHM Motherhouse in Monroe. Burial was to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
