Sr. Laetitia Marie Lariviere, IHM, died April 8 at the age of 85.Born in Detroit on Feb. 3, 1932, to Robert and Laetitia (Connolly) Lariviere, Helen entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Monroe, in 1950.
Sr. Lariviere earned degrees from Marygrove College, and Bowling Green State University. She taught at Annunciation, Gesu, Holy Redeemer and St. Mary of Redford in Detroit; St. John High School in Benton Harbor; and Sacred Heart High School in Dearborn. She later ministered in Wyoming before returning to Monroe to join the staff of the Visitation House of Prayer in 1974, later serving as director.
Later in her ministry, she served in pastoral ministry in Alaska and Minnesota and then for parishes in Monroe and Northville.
Sr. Lariviere had requested green burial. A Memorial Mass will be held May 12, at 10 a.m.
