Sr. Mary Florian Schneider, OP, formerly Dorothy Margaret Schneider, died at Siena Center in Racine, Wis., Oct. 12. She was 94.

She was born June 13, 1917 in Fowler, north of Lansing, to Edward and Matilda (Rademacher) Schneider. On March 14, 1934 she joined the Racine Dominicans, and at her reception in 1936 was given the religious name Sr. Mary Florian.  She professed her first vows in 1938 and final vows in 1944.

Sr. Schneider taught children at the primary level in schools in Wisconsin and Michigan, including Assumption Grotto, Detroit; St. Gerard and St. Therese, Lansing; and Heartwood School, Mason. She became a resident of Siena Center in 2000.

Sr. Schneider is survived by six brothers, and nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 14 at Siena Center, Racine, Wis. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, in Wisconsin.
