Sr. Marcine Mercure, CSJ, died Feb. 6 at the age of 92.

Marie Joan Mercure was born in Rockwood on Dec. 6, 1922, the daughter of Harvey and Jeanette (Normandin) Mercure. She was a member of St. Rita Parish in Detroit at the time of her entrance into the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Nazareth on Feb. 19, 1939. She pronounced first vows Aug. 26, 1941, and final vows Aug. 26, 1944.

Sr. Mercure earned degrees from Nazareth College and the University of Detroit. For 43 years, she taught in several schools of the Congregation, including St. Bernard, Detroit; St. Gertrude and St. Joan of Arc, St. Clair Shores; St. Veronica, Eastpointe; and Sacred Heart, Birch Run. In 1983, she transitioned to parish ministry at Sacred Heart Parish, Grosse Ile, and St. Veronica Parish, Eastpointe.

A Mass of Christian Burial was Feb. 10 in Holy Family Chapel in Nazareth, Mich.
