Sr. Marianne O’Neill, OP, formerly Sr. David Frances O’Neill, died Jan. 13 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 80 and in her 62nd year in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Born in Chicago to David and Frances (Whitty) O’Neill, she earned degrees from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian and the University of Michigan.

She spent more than 31 years ministering in education in Illinois and Michigan, including St. Joseph, Wyandotte (1954); Queen of the Miraculous Medal, Jackson (1956-62); Presentation, Detroit (1962-66); and Bishop Foley High School, Madison Heights (1966-73, as librarian). She was a driver for Maria Health Care Center in Adrian for three years, and chapter prioress for six years for the Sisters of the Motherhouse Mission Chapter (Holy Rosary Mission Chapter) in Adrian.

Funeral Mass was offered Jan. 17 in St. Catherine Chapel in Adrian; rite of committal was to be in the Congregation cemetery.
