Sr. KlameckiSr. Mary Dina (Bernice) Klamecki entered eternal life Dec. 14 in St. Joseph Care Center Convent, Livonia. She was 100 and had been in religious life 81 years.
Bernice Klamecki was born in Alpena on March 23, 1915, to Andrew and Antoinette (Kaszuba). She is preceded in death by two sisters: Victoria Fenski and Helen (Felician Sr. Mary Andrea).
She was accepted to the seminary of the Felician Sisters in Detroit in 1930 and joined the Felician congregation in 1934. Invested with the habit in 1935, she received the name Sr. Mary Edigna, later changed to Sr. Mary Dina. She pronounced first vows in 1936 and final vows in 1942.
In preparation for 55 years of teaching, Sr. Klamecki received degrees from Madonna College and Notre Dame University. She served at: Assumption, St. Casimir, St. Stanislaus and Patronage of St. Joseph — all in Detroit; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Wyandotte; St. Stanislaus, Jackson; St. Florian and Queen of Apostles, Hamtramck; St. Michael and Ladywood High School, Livonia; Holy Rosary, Saginaw; St. Joseph, Manistee; St. Stanislaus, Bay City; and Catholic Central, Steubenville, Ohio.
She spent 21 years of her religious life at St. Florian School in Hamtramck, and from 1989 to 2002, was the high school library media specialist.
She retired in 2002 and for the next five years assisted with correspondence at Angela Hospice.
Mass of Christian Burial was Dec. 17 in Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel of the Central Convent of the Felician Sisters, Livonia. Burial is in Holy
Cemetery, Southfield.
