Sr. Mary Eileen Malolepsza, CSSF, of Detroit completed her life’s journey April 15 in St. Joseph Convent, Livonia. She was 86 and spent 67 years in religious life.Helen Malolepsza was born June 29, 1930, the eighth of 11 children of Felix and Veronica (Ziembowicz). She was admitted to the postulancy of the Felician Sisters on June 19, 1949. First profession of vows was in 1951 and final profession in 1957.
Sr. Malolepsza earned a degree from Madonna (College) University and from Duquesne University in Pennsylvania.
Sr. Malolepsza spent 31 years ministering in education, including at St. Louis the King and Holy Ghost, Detroit; St. Michael, Port Austin; St. Anne, Monroe; St. Dunstan, Garden City; Mt. Carmel, Wyandotte; St. Jude, Grand Rapids; St. Damian, Westland; St. Valentine, Redford; St. Stephen, New Boston. She was principal at St. Michael, Port Austin; Mt. Carmel, Wyandotte; St. Jude, Grand Rapids; St. Damian, Westland; and St. Stephen, New Boston.
In 1977, she was assigned to the Presentation Novitiate as director of postulants until 1984, then as the director of novices. Sr. Malolepsza served as pastoral minister at Angela Hospice from 2001-10.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on April 18 at the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel, Livonia. Burial is in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
