Sr. Mary Fidelis Beck, OP, died Jan. 24 at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse in Oxford. She was born Nov. 8, 1918, in Brookside, Pa., to Paul and Jeanne Guillaume and named Louise Pauline Beck. She entered the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine de’ Ricci of Elkins Park near Philadelphia on April 30, 1945, and professed vows Feb. 13, 1948.Sr. Beck lived and worked at the Dominican Retreat House in Elkins Park for 62 years until it closed in 2006 and relocated to Maria Hall at the Sisters of SS. Cyril and Methodius in Danville, Pa. In 2013, Sr. Beck moved to the Oxford Motherhouse when her community merged with the Dominican Sisters of Peace, where she served as a horticulturalist for the grounds.
Sr. Beck is survived by nephews and nieces, relatives, friends and her sisters in community.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 26 at the Oxford Motherhouse.
