Sr. Mary King, IHM, 73, of St. Clair Shores, died May 15, at the IHM Health Care Center.Sr. King was one of twin daughters born to Edward and Mary (Cynowa) King on Feb. 5, 1942, in Detroit. She attended St. Matthew Grade and Dominican High School in Detroit. She entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Monroe in 1960 and received the name Sister Edward Mary.
She earned degrees from Marygrove College and Wayne State University. Her teaching career spanned almost 40 years, ministering at St. Joseph, Erie; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Emmett; Holy Trinity, Detroit, and Our Lady Star of the Sea in Grosse Pointe Woods.
Sr. King is survived by her sister Rose Wilson, cousins, a niece and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 20 in the Motherhouse Chapel. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery.
