Sr. Mary Patricia Larabell, DC

LarabellSr. Mary Patricia Larabell, DC, a Daughter of Charity for more than 62 years, died April 11. A private burial was April 14 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Evansville, Ind. A Memorial Liturgy for Sister Mary Patricia will be at 11 a.m. April 22 at the Seton Residence Chapel in Evansville.

Born March 18, 1932, in Chicago, she was one of four children born to Cedric and Marie (Beausejour) Larabell. She graduated from Redford High School in Detroit in 1950 and entered the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent DePaul in Emmitsburg, Md., in 1951. Sr. Larabell earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in social sciences and education from St. Joseph College, Emmitsburg, Md., in 1965, and her Master of Arts degree in human development and social work from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1972.

After initial formation, Sr. Larabell served as a house mother and elementary education teacher in Maryland, New York, Virginia and Massachusetts before serving from 1968-81 at the St. Vincent/Sarah Fischer Center in Farmington Hills. She later served as director of Catholic Charities in Evansville before returning to Farmington Hills as administrator at the St. Vincent/ Sarah Fischer Center until 1994. She later served at the St. Vincent DePaul Center and Marillac Social Center in Chicago.

Sr. Larabell is survived by her brother, Richard (Jo) Larabell of Appleton, Wis., and her sister, Dorothy (Bill) McCready of Round Rock, Texas, many nieces and nephews, many friends, and her sisters in community.
