Sr. Mary Russell, formerly known as Sr. Daniel Maureen Russell, died Nov. 19 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 90 years of age and in the 66th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sr. Russell was born in Tiskilwa, Ill., to Daniel and Zora (Swain) Russell. She graduated from St. Clara Academy in Sinsinawa, Wis., and received a Bachelor of Philosophy degree in education and a Master of Science degree in education, both from Barry College (University) in Miami, Fla.

Sr. Russell ministered for 30 years in education in Detroit, Florida, Alabama and Virginia. In Detroit, she taught at Presentation School (1948-51). She worked as a secretary at the Dominican Motherhouse in Adrian in 1982. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2003.

She is survived by loving nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered in St. Catherine Chapel on Nov. 22. Burial will be in the congregation cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, Michigan, 49221.
