Sr. Maxine McGee, CSJSr. Maxine McGee, CSJ, entered eternal life May 5. She was 87.
Maxine Jeanette McGee was born in Bad Axe on Sept. 30, 1928, to Charles and Johanna (Grace) McGee. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph at Nazareth on Sept. 7, 1946, and was received July 2, 1947. She pronounced first vows July 2, 1949, and final vows July 2, 1952.
Sr. McGee earned degrees from Nazareth College and St. Mary College, Notre Dame, and attended workshops and classes in spiritual direction, retreat ministry and Carmelite spirituality. She served as an elementary teacher in several schools, including Our Lady of Good Counsel, Plymouth; St. Joan of Arc, St. Clair Shores; and as principal at Blessed Sacrament School, Allegan; and Our Lady of Fatima School, Michigan Center, where she also served as parish minister and DRE. She served as director of Fontbonne Manor in Nazareth and pastoral minister at St. Joseph Parish, White Pigeon.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 11 at Holy Family Chapel in Nazareth.
