Sr. Nora Marie Duggan, IHM, 85, died Oct. 22 in the IHM Health Care Center, Monroe.

Marcella Joan Duggan was born Dec. 22, 1931, in Detroit to Daniel and Nora (Clancy) Duggan. In 1950, she entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Monroe, and received the religious name Sr. Nora Marie.

Sr. Duggan earned a earned degrees from Marygrove College and Wayne State University, Detroit, and was a National Certified Counselor.

Sr. Duggan taught for more than 20 years in schools in Michigan, Alabama and Illinois, including at St. Martin and St. Charles in Detroit. She later transitioned to counseling, where she served for many years in Michigan, Illinois and Florida. In Michigan, she served at Aquinas High School in Southgate.

Friends and family may gather at the IHM Motherhouse, 610 W. Elm Ave., Monroe on Nov. 6, beginning at 9 a.m. The Remembering, followed by a Memorial Mass, will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
