Sr. Rosemarie Kieffer, OP, formerly Sr. Mary Valentine Kieffer, died at the Dominican Life Center on Nov. 3. She was 75 and in her 56th year in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sr. Kieffer was born in Chicago to Valentine and Mary (Maggs) Kieffer. She earned degrees from Siena Heights College in Adrian, the University of Detroit and the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

She taught at St. Gabriel (1960-63) and St. John Bosco (1963-70) in Detroit, taught religious education at St. William Parish in Walled Lake (1970-77), and served in pastoral ministry at St. Benedict Parish in Pontiac (1979-80) and Our Lady Gate of Heaven Parish, Detroit (1985-2002). She also served as director of candidates and formation for the Adrian Dominican Sisters in the 1980s, and director of the Dominican Center for Religious Development from 2002-10.

Sr. Kieffer is survived by two sisters, Lauretta Clettenberg of Williams Bay, Wis., and Grace Wiewiora of Phoenix, and a sister-in-law, Joan Martinez of Crown Point, Ind. A funeral Mass was to be offered Nov. 10 in St. Catherine Chapel in Adrian. Rite of Committal was to be in the congregation cemetery.
