Sister Theresa Martin Pigott, OPSr. Theresa Martin Pigott, formerly Anna Elizabeth Pigott, died Nov. 2 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 92 and in the 74th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
Sr. Pigott was born in Detroit to Peter and Katherine (Walsh) Pigott. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Adrian and received degrees from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian and Lourdes College in Sylvania, Ohio.
Sr. Pigott spent 33 years ministering in education in Michigan, Illinois, California and Nevada. In Michigan, she taught at Resurrection, Lansing (1950-52); Queen of the Miraculous Medal, Jackson (1952-59); Bishop Borgess, Detroit (1971-74); and St. Norbert, Inkster (1974-75). In 1975, she began her work in health care and hospitality ministry. She served at Maria Health Care (Dominican Life) Center for 11 years in occupational therapy, and was a nursing assistant. She worked in Respite Care in Northville from 1991-93, and in night hospitality at Weber Center in Adrian from 1999-2002.
Sr. Pigott is survived by a sister, Katherine LaBelle of Warren. A funeral Mass was offered in St. Catherine Chapel on Nov. 5. The Rite of Committal was to be in the Congregation cemetery.
