Stella M. Sossi Stella M. Sossi
Stella M. Sossi, 93, died Sept. 8 at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. She was born in Detroit on Oct. 26, 1921, the daughter of Anthony and Joanna Martinico. She lived on Detroit’s east side and was a graduate of Southeastern High School in 1939. She furthered her education at the Walsh Business School on Broadway in Detroit.

In 1945, Stellla began working as a bookkeeper at the Roma Café near the Eastern Market in Detroit. In 1946, Stella married Hector Sossi at Holy Family Catholic Church in Detroit. Mrs. Sossi was the office manager at the restaurant until her retirement.

Mrs. Sossi was fond of cooking, reading and was devoted to her family. She enjoyed entertaining in her home; and even though her family was small, her arms were wide and she spread her love to several “adopted” family friends. Mr. and Mrs. Sossi were former members of the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, the Detroit Athletic Club and the Detroit Golf Club.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Hector; their daughter Janet Belcoure (B.J.); her granddaughter, Jessica Belcoure (fiancé Thomas Marcetti); her sister Concetta Timpa Pop; her niece, Connie Mancini, her nephews, Vincent Timpa and Anthony, Joseph and John Martinico; and extended family: her Brazilian “daughters” Eleni and Eloisa; and the TomHon family.

A funeral Mass was Sept. 12 at St. Joan of Arc Church, St. Clair Shores.
