Three local men enter priesthood

Detroit — Two local men were ordained priests the weekend of June 29, and a third will be ordained July 20. Fr. Francisco DeAngelis, ORC, a member of the Canons Regular of the Holy Cross who grew up in St. Clair Shores and attended St. Isaac Jogues School, was ordained by Auxiliary Bishop Arturo Cepeda at Assumption (Grotto) Parish in Detroit, celebrating his first holy Mass the following day at SS. Cyril and Methodius (Slovak) Parish in Sterling Heights.

Also June 29, Bishop Ibrahim N. Ibrahim ordained Fr. Andrew Ciba to the priesthood for the Eastern Rite Chaldean Eparchy of St. Thomas the Apostle, based in Southfield. Fr. Ciba grew up in St. Joseph (Chaldean) Parish in Troy and studied at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. He will serve the Chaldean eparchy at St. Thomas (Chaldean) Parish in West Bloomfield.

On July 20, Bro. Deacon Gregory-David Jones, OSB, will be ordained by Auxiliary Bishop Francis Reiss at St. Mary of Redford Parish in Detroit. Bro. Deacon Jones received his master’s in theology at SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake and is a member of the monastic community of St. Benedict Monastery in Oxford.

The ordination Mass for Bro. Deacon Jones will be at noon, with a reception to follow at St. Scholastica School in Detroit.
