University’s diamond jubilee kicks off

Madonna University, a Felician-run school situated in Livonia just off of I-96, kicked off its 75th anniversary celebration with a Diamond Jubilee event Oct. 27 at the Inn at St. John’s. Archbishop Allen Vigneron and Cardinal Edmund C. Szoka — along with Sr. Mary Barbara Ann Bosch and Sr. Mary Cabrini Procopio, the minister general and vicar general of the International Felician Congregation — were present for the celebration, as were 400 guests. The jubilee celebration will continue for a year with a series of events, culminating in a final Diamond Jubilee banquet in October 2012. “The Diamond Jubilee was a wonderful

start to a year in which we will reflect on and highlight our accomplishments over the last three-quarters of a century,” said Sr. Rose Marie Kujawa, president of Madonna University. Livonia’s first university, Madonna was established by the Felician Sisters in 1937 as Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Junior College.
