As part of the Year of Prayer for a New Pentecost, the Archdiocese of Detroit has introduced a set of screen-saver and lock-screen graphics for 4th and 5th generation Apple iPhones. The graphics include sacred art, along with the prayer Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron has designated to be used for the year. “We’re all trying to come up with new ways to encourage more prayer, and the average person with a smartphone looks at their screen dozens of times each day – so it seemed to fit,” said Tim Hinkle, Web manager for the archdiocese. “Having this graphic, this prayer, on their smartphone can be a simple, yet effective, reminder for a Catholic to pray for the Church.” The graphics can be downloaded at www.aod.org/smartphone.Prayer for a New Pentecost
Father in heaven,
renew Your wonders in our time,
as though by a new Pentecost and grant that Your holy Church in Detroit,
praying perseveringly and insistently with one mind,
together with Mary, the mother of Jesus,
and guided by Sts. Joseph and Anne,
may increase the reign of the Divine Savior,
the reign of truth and justice,
the reign of love and peace. Amen.
