Young adults find plenty to do this summer

Detroit — In addition to the Steubenville Conference and World Youth Day preparations, young adults in the Archdiocese of Detroit will have plenty to keep themselves busy this summer. Here are some of the upcoming events for young adult Catholics:

• The sixth annual Young Adult BBQ and Sports Night will be Aug. 16 at BASF Park in Wyandotte. The 5:30-9 p.m. event costs $10 and will be followed by karaoke at Speedboat, 749 Biddle Ave., Wyandotte.

• A young adult mixer for Catholics age 18-35 will be held at The Ark at St. Ambrose in Grosse Pointe Park on Sept. 6. The 7 p.m. event is designed for young adults to mingle and meet organizers of lay ecclesial movements throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit, with a DJ and dancing to follow.

• Theology on Tap, a series of informal talks on faith-based matters for young adults, continues its series on the eighth of each month with Fr. Simon Lobo, CC, coordinator of campus ministry for Wayne State University. Fr. Lobo will talk about practical ways to evangelize starting at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at Maccabees Restaurant, 5057 Woodward Ave., Detroit. The September event — while not exactly theology — will feature an improvisational comedy routine.
